The History of the Master's Golf Tournament

The Masters
The Masters Tournament is a prestigious annual golf tournament held in Augusta, Georgia, USA. It was first held in 1934 and has been played annually since, except for 1943-45 due to World War II. It is one of the four major championships in men's golf, along with the U.S. Open, The Open Championship, and the PGA Championship. The tournament is played at Augusta National Golf Club and features the top golfers from around the world.

Some of the best performances at the Masters Golf tournament include:
  • Tiger Woods' victory in 1997, where he won by 12 strokes, a record for a major championship
  • Jack Nicklaus' win in 1986 at the age of 46, which was his record sixth Masters win and his 18th major championship
  • Jordan Spieth's 2015 win, where he set a tournament record for the lowest score in relation to par at -18
  • Phil Mickelson's win in 2010, where he holed a downhill, left-to-right breaking putt on the 18th hole to win his third Masters
  • Rory McIlroy's win in 2019, where he held off a strong challenge from Brooks Koepka to win his first green jacket.
These are some of the notable performances in the history of the Masters Tournament. Who will make history at the 2023 Master's Golf Tournament?
